Ben Harper-"Forever"

Not talking about a year , no not three or four
I don't want that kind of forever in my life anymore
forever always seems to be around when it begins
but , forever never seems to be around when it ends

(ch)
So give me your forever
please your forever
not another day less will do
from you

People spend so much time every single day
running 'round all over town giving there forever away
but no ,not me i won't let my forever roam
and now i hope that i can find my forever a home

(ch)

like a hand less clock with numbers on an infinite of time
no not the forever found only in the mind
forever always seems to be around when things begin
but forever never seems to be around when things end

A few years back, Lisa and I attended a wedding. During the reception, our friend Louie, got up and grabbed his guitar. He then sang this song to the bride and groom. I thought of how great of a job he did!! After he was done, I was thinking about the lyrics and how pretty they were. It was strange when I was talking to Louie at the reception??? He told me that "Forever" was the wedding song...........or the song with abstract meanings..........????" I paid no attention to it, but two years later, I saw Ben Harper open up for the Dave Matthews Band. He sang the song live, and it poked some interest in me!!

So, What is Forever???? Really Nothing at all. Forever seems to be the last thing that anyone can accurately describe, let alone predict or create. Life is so fragile and temporary that "forever" really isn't applicable to anything, save perhaps the idea of love. To me, Forever describes the mortality of most relationships, but also how the best should be made out of every moment.

"Forever always seems to be around when it begins,
but forever never seems to be around when it ends."
So Give Me Your Forever."

Always remember that Forever has its own meaning to every person that hears it. It is a song that is open to interpretation. Think about what forever means to you as a person. To me, Forever could be a lifetime, a few years, or just a few seconds. Or, forever is the only item in your life that does not last forever!
